Soft Tissue Surgery

Soft Tissue Surgery

Some patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) present with problems involving excessive tissue redundancy in the upper airway. It is in these patients that soft tissue surgery is indicated. Some of these problems include enlargement of the palatine tonsils, enlargement of the lingual tonsils, adenoid hypertrophy, elongated uvula and palate.

Soft tissue surgery in this patient may be done with the goal are relieving the airway obstruction causing sleep apnea. It may also be offered to a patient with the goal of changing patterns of early collapse that may prevent a patient from getting other procedures to treat OSA.

Dr. Carlos Torre implements the combination of different techniques to correct excessive redundancy of the soft tissue, elongation of the soft palate and uvula, enlargement of tonsillar tissue, and unfavorable patterns of airway collapse.
